Petrol and diesel costs on the Europe → Türkiye drive
Use this guide to compare petrol and diesel information along the main overland routes to Türkiye. It is a planning aid rather than a promise of the price at the pump: station location, local currency, motorway access and the time of day can all affect what you pay.
Read the figures in context
Always compare the same grade of fuel and note the currency used by each country. The regularly published European comparison is useful for broad country-to-country decisions. Before departure, check a national source or the station’s own listing where one is available. A national average is not a live quote and motorway service areas can differ noticeably from stations in nearby towns.
Choose practical refuelling stops
A cheap stop is only worthwhile when the detour, opening hours and traffic fit your journey. On long routes through Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Romania or Bulgaria, select one preferred stop and one backup before each major border. Keep enough range for queues, temporary diversions and night driving. Well-lit facilities and a proper rest break may matter more than a small price difference.
- Record your tank capacity and real-world average consumption.
- Allow a safety margin instead of planning to arrive on reserve.
- Check card exchange rates and foreign-transaction charges.
- Confirm the grade and displayed pump price before filling.
Build a realistic fuel budget
Enter your actual route distance, consumption and a cautious blended fuel price in the cost calculator. Work out the outbound and return journeys separately, especially if the route or border crossing may change. Save your receipts and odometer readings: they provide a far better baseline for your next trip than a generic estimate. Prices and exchange rates move, so refresh your checks shortly before you leave and treat every total as an estimate, not a guarantee.
